 Best time to vist Taiwan

To get to Daxi (大溪) from Taipei, you have several transportation options:

1. By Bus (Cheapest & Direct)

  • Step 1: Go to Taipei Main Station or MRT Yongning Station (Blue Line).
  • Step 2: Take Bus 9103 (from Taipei Main Station) or Bus 9101 (from Yongning MRT) towards Daxi.
  • Step 3: Get off at Daxi Old Street (大溪老街) or Daxi Bus Station (大溪總站).
  • Duration: Around 1.5 hours
  • Fare: ~NT$80–100
  • Bus Frequency: Every 15–30 minutes
  • Bus Route: Yongning MRT → Shulin → Yingge → Daxi
  • Bus 9101 from Yongning MRT Station (永寧捷運站, Blue Line) to Daxi (大溪), the travel time is about 50–60 minutes, depending on traffic.

2. By Train + Bus (Scenic & Budget-Friendly)

  • Step 1: Take a train (TRA) from Taipei Main Station to Taoyuan Station. (~40 min)
  • Step 2: Transfer to Bus 5096 or L505 at Taoyuan Bus Terminal. (~40 min)
  • Step 3: Get off at Daxi Old Street.

3. By Taxi (Fastest & Comfortable)

  • Direct taxi from Taipei to Daxi.
  • Duration: ~40–50 min
  • Fare: ~NT$800–1200

4. By Rental Car (Flexible & Convenient)

  • Rent a car from Taipei and drive via National Highway 3 (Freeway 3) to Daxi. (~40–50 min)
  • Ideal if you plan to visit nearby attractions like Shimen Reservoir or Cihu Mausoleum. 

Vegetarian food at Jiayi

Opposite Jiayi train station.

Open at 6.30am.

Take bus at chiayi train station to visit Chen lao shi.

Drop at Tai bao. Qian tan li bus stop and Walk backward when alight. 
Few traffic lights away.
When reach drain, walk towards factory with name 广结善缘 

Airport to Taipei main station NT150.
Express train.
Terminal 1  36 minutes
Terminal 2  39 minutes

Taipei to Daxi.
Take metro to yong ning station. (Blue line)
Bus 710, 710B to daxi.

Fast train from taipei to Chiayi NTW 1080
zhi qiang 号 from taipei to Chiayi NTW598

You can take a train from Taipei to Chiayi via 台中 and 新烏日 in around 3h 8m

Alternatively, Kuo-Kuang Bus operates a bus from Taipei Station to Chiayi hourly. Tickets cost $11 - $16 and the journey takes 3h 30m.

Option 1
there is no direct bus from Taiwan Taoyuan Airport (TPE) to Chiayi (Station) station. However, there are services departing from Taoyuan Airport T2 and arriving at Chiayi Station via Chaoma Station. The journey, including transfers, takes approximately 4h 16m.

Option 2
However, there are services departing from Airport Terminal 2 Station and arriving at 嘉義 via 桃園 and 新烏日. The journey, including transfers, takes approximately 3h 16m.

Taiwan Taoyuan Airport (TPE) to Chiayi (Station) bus services, operated by U Bus, depart from Taoyuan Airport T2 station.

Taiwan hot springs
Take the MRT Red Line 2 to Beitou Station (北投), then change to the train bound for Xinbeitou (新北投). Upon exiting the station, walk straight on either side of the park to find hot springs.

Take the Red Line 2 to Beitou (北投), then change to the Xinbeitou branch (新北投). After arriving at Xinbeitou, walk straight out of the station and along Zhongshan Road (中山路). After reaching the Hi-Life convenience store, take a left onto the lane to reach Thermal Valley.

Linsen and the old Monga district in Wanhua

Linsen area is the most popular and conveniently located near Taipei Main Station. 

The first impression might seem like a rough place to walk at night, but it’s safe.
